I'm a software developer, a mathematician, a musician, and a ventriloquist...a real Jack of All Trades. If you put all those things together, you'll realize that I spend the bulk of my time indoors. I've never really gotten into many outdoorsy hobbies or activities, with the exception that I really enjoy hiking various mountains around the State of Maine (my home state).
I also work with the youth group at my church, and we occasionally take the teens on hiking and/or camping trips. Our youth group has hiked Katahdin, TableRock, Cranberry Peak, Streaked Mountain, and others. Usually we only get one hike in per summer, so I try to get in some hiking with friends and family as well.
Recently, after hiking Avery Peak* (part of the Bigelow Mountain Range in Stratton, Maine) with my brother and his wife, it occurred to me that it's hard to find USEFUL information about hikes online, so I thought it would be nice to provide a place where amateur hikers (like myself) could post reports of their hikes, and look up others' reports.
Hence, this site was born!
One of my current goals is to hike all the 4,000 footers in the State of Maine. We have 14 of them, according to the AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club). Here's the list:
